Hardline, you are so right! No one administration can be blamed for all the trouble we are in now but the current leadership has doubled the national debt from the 1st 40+ presidents in less than a full term.

Sorry, you've confused Barack Obama with George W. Bush -- or you slept through 2008 and 2009. Obama okayed about a trillion of the debt Bush added, but Bush added about four times as much as Obama.

No president has had such a sketchy, almost hidden, past as Pres. Obama.

And all the others. You don't have a library in your town? Name one other president who had written TWO best-selling memoirs before election. If you didn't read them, it's not Obama's fault, you know?

I have a more complete response at my blog, Millard Fillmore's Bathtub. Look for the open letter to Lou Pritchett.

Pres. Bush may have done some stupid things but none was impeachable.

Several prosecutors around the world beg to differ -- torture, kidnappings of foreign nationals, and illegal invasions of nations are considered war crimes, and are also impeachable.

Obama's done nothing impeachable, you mean.

Whereas, instructing your AG to NOT enforce a law on the books is impeachable.

No it's not. It wasn't when Washington did it, nor when Jackson did it, nor when McKinley did it, nor when T. Roosevelt did it, nor when Hoover, Coolidge and Eisenhower did it -- and not now, either.

Part of executive discretion is determining where to use law enforcement resources. That's part of the job, it's not a crime.

Appointing more than 40 high ranking "czars" during non "recesses" is impeachable.

You're hallucinating. Obama's appointed no one with great regulatory power, except as the Constitution requires and allows. "40 czars?" That's about 39 more than there are. Quit making stuff up.

Requiring the citizens of this country to buy anything is un-constitutional.

It wasn't when Washington required merchant mariners to buy health, injury and retirement insurance, and it's not now. It's not unconstitutional to require citizens to buy auto insurance if they drive, for a state, nor is it for the federal government. It's okay to tax people to pay for benefits they get specifically.

Persecuting a local sheriff for enforcing a federal law the the federal government refused to enforce is bullying and cowardly.

The Constitution says local officials must butt out of foreign affairs, and immigration is close enough. There's no crime in Phoenix that Joe Arpaio has to fight? Bull feathers.

I left my well compensated position within the military community because I could no longer not speak out against the worst Commander-in-Chief I've experienced since my enlistment in 1967.

You hated Johnson that much?

Heck, I can top that -- I had an executive appointment in the Reagan administration. Sometimes you have to stay to make sure the law is carried out, legally.

The only reason he hasn't been impeached is the Democratic strangle hold on the Senate.

The House impeaches -- that's probably news to you.

Also, pay attention: It's Mitch McConnell who's strangling the Senate.

Clearly the NCLB history standards did you no good. Tell George W. Bush, will you?

This video needs to get out on Facebook so all those "occupiers" see it. Schools have so corrupted their minds about capitalism and freedom. Wow...

Ed Darrell said...

But you, Unknown, you have resisted this indoctrination by the schools?

Immune to learning, or did your tinfoil hat save you?

What makes you think you're the only one resistant to bad ideas? What makes you think the schools are passing out bad ideas? I mean, it's not like you've been in one in 30 years, is it?

Ed, it is obvious that Unknown comes from"Republican Opposite World", you know, where you make a right turn to go left, good is bad and the poor need to be punished for being poor and the rich must have their asses sucked.

Well Unknown, if you have some free time on your hands, drop in on your local elementary through high school history classes and then from there drop in on your community colleges and universities. A good one to visit is University California Berkerly. That is where John Yoo (sic) teaches. If you are not sure who he is, he is the one that wrote the memo justifying torture. It is a BS excuse that our educational system is politically bias. The only colleges that change the text of their history books in the name of the right wing agenda are in Texas and Arizona. Quit making up excuses as to why the Republican party is shrinking.

Upon reading several of these comments, it is apparent that the public education system has created plenty of Americans who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

For example:

• If you are one who believes "Capitalism" (Free Market) is BAD, you're very confused and/or deceived.

• If you are one who believes the American government has allowed "Capitalism" (Free Markets) over the last 50 years, and even before this film was made, you're very confused and/or deceived.

• I you are one who believes that there is REALLY any valuable difference between Bush, Obama & Romney regarding advancing LIBERTY in America, you're very confused and/or deceived... and you should ready my latest blogpost:

http://infinityliberty.blogspot.com/2012/09/choosing-sides-good-vs-evil.html

Choosing Sides – Good VS Evil

My reply to everyone who sends me pro-Obama/anti-Romney and/or pro-Romney/anti-Obama propaganda: if I have to choose a "side", I'm going to objectively examine the facts and then choose GOOD (LIBERTY) over EVIL (TYRANNY).

In other words, I aim to support a Presidential candidate whose ideology largely falls on the side of LIBERTY. Therefore, if it's between the "lesser of two evils", I'll support NEITHER, and rather vote for someone who to a much greater degree stands for truth, justice and liberty, even if they have little to no chance of being elected. If there is still no one that I feel meets this criteria, I'll vote NOTA.

I cannot really recall a time in my life where the partisan duopoly candidates did not represent a "lesser of two evils" scenario, except perhaps for those two unique times in the 90's when Americans actually had a third option… but then of course, the tyrannical partisan duopoly tweaked the "rules" in order to make it nearly impossible from THAT ever happening again.

I have not voted for the lesser of TWO EVILS since I was a teenager and knew no better. IF Americans would have long ago removed their heads from whatever dark void in which they reside and dispensed with supporting "lesser evils", this massive government corruption — at every level — would have perhaps been greatly minimized by now.

And BTW, this is NOT the "most important election" since whenever. It's astonishing how the Sheeple of Neo-Amerika actually believe that lie every 4 years!

Further, the "end of liberty in America" did not recently occur. That largely began occurring in 1913, if not earlier when the 14th Amendment was passed (if you don't know why, consider further education on the subject). As with going off the gold standard, the "end of liberty in America" has been slow and steady over a century or so, and NO ADMINISTRATION of the partisan duopoly has ever made a serious effort to turn US around from this course toward national destruction (well, perhaps ONE President had planned on investigating the Federal Reserve and the fractional banking system, and we know how he was dealt with).

(continued…)

infinitybbc said...

(… continued)

Getting back to this election as a "lesser of two evils" example, when one votes for Obama or Romney, they vote in support of Collectivism of one form or another which breeds only tyranny & slavery: as a so called "Liberal", Obama and his ilk most often lean toward the Socialist side of Collectivism; while as a so called "Conservative", Romney and his ilk most often lean toward the Fascist side of Collectivism — BOTH of these political-economic systems (Socialism AND Fascism) fall within the ideology of Collectivism which is diametrically opposed to Individualism, and therefore, at enmity with LIBERTY.

And really, if you are one who believes in a supernatural Creator of all things and through whom all liberty is derived, it might be noteworthy for you to consider that since Collectivism is at enmity with liberty, it is therefore also at enmity with the Creator. Since I happen to be one who believes in such a Creator, I cannot in good conscience support ANY potential leader of our country who subscribes to such an anti-liberty ideology.

Our founding fathers like Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, etc., would be rolling in their graves for over a century now if they were alive and conscience as the masses who, although through much deception, have continued to elect Collectivist after Collectivist, liar after liar, and crook after crook, whose very actions are aligned with the REAL adversary behind the physical-spiritual curtain through which we cannot yet clearly see.

We the Sheeple of Neo-Amerika FULLY DESERVE what's coming — TOTAL ECONOMIC COLLAPSE — and Continuing to elect these Collectivist "lesser evils" who make up the corrupted political "ruling class" will certainly do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to prevent this from occurring.

Whether Obama or Romney are elected, we will continue to witness — as we do EVERY term regardless which so called "lesser evil side" of the partisan duopoly is in power — continued Constitutional violations (and lawlessness in general at all levels of government and within all branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial), continued usurpation of our unalienable Creator-given individual liberties, and continued foolish social, monetary & foreign policies. In short, as a nation we're DOOMED!

Time is PAST for "electing our way out of this mess" — time is NOW for preparing oneself SPIRITUALLY & PHYSICALLY, for the sake of all our loved ones who wish to endure the coming unavoidable apocalypse.

Still, I will vote in good conscience: NOT in support of ANY so called "lesser evil", but rather FOR truth, justice, and liberty.

Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. — Hebrews 13:18

In liberty always...

In my mind, the money line in this little cartoon was this:

“When anybody preaches disunity, tries to pit one of us against the other through class warfare, race hatred, or religious intolerance, you know that person seeks to rob us of our freedom and destroy our very lives.”

Hmmm. Who does that sound like?

magistre said...

Roadlizard7 said...

People have been commenting here for nearly three years. Back then, everyone supporting Obama was saying blame Bush. Well, three years later can you say unequivocally that you or the country better off today than four years ago? For the part of the country, I know you can't. Our national debt has skyrocketed, whil the Federal Reserve is continuing to print money and devaluing our currency. Prices are going up alarmingly, and unemployment is near an all time high, with no prospects of improving in the near future.

Our country is facing a fiscal cliff of disastrous proportions January 1, with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts, coupled with massive tax increases on businesses by Obamacare, and mandatory spending cuts amounting to 10% of the federal budget! These cuts will cause tens of thousands of layoffs (that have already begun) in the defense industry alone.

Changing this disaster and its consequences, can only be accomplished with a bi-partisan will to compromise and make difficult decisions that will be very hard for members of both parties to stomach. However, if they don't, the consequences will be much more disastrous.

Ed Darrell said...

Well, three years later can you say unequivocally that you or the country better off today than four years ago?

Yes, our nation is much better off than four years ago.

Osama is dead, GM and Chrysler are alive. Four years ago we were losing 500,000 jobs per month -- for the past 40 months we've had job gains.

In late 2008 we had two wars going, appearing to lose them both at $100 billion/month; today we're on the way out of both of them. Back then, gays had to hide their private life to serve in the military; today we don't make patriots hide like that. Then, if a woman discovered her company had cheated her out of fair pay for 30 years, the courts said "tough luck." Today, the law is she can sue to recover what she was cheated out of. In 2008 we had a problem with dictators stifling free enterprise in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iran, Algeria, Yemen, and trouble in Saudi Arabia, Qatr and Bahrain. Today there are fledgling democracies in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, and improvements on the way in Saudi Arabia, Qatr and Yemen. Syria remains a mess.

We're much better off today.

For the part of the country, I know you can't. Our national debt has skyrocketed, whil the Federal Reserve is continuing to print money and devaluing our currency.

Our debt is below what it was in 1946. What is crippling our recovery is die-hard "America can't afford to be great anymore" advocates in Congress who refuse to let government do what it can and must, that private enterprise cannot do. American securities are the most prized in the world, because the U.S. pays its bills and has the soundest economy, all things considered.

Debt? You paid cash for your house? You think mortgages are dumb? You think Washington and Hamilton were stupid to put the U.S. on a path to prosperity by borrowing money? No wonder you think your underwear is in a wad.

Prices are going up alarmingly, and unemployment is near an all time high, with no prospects of improving in the near future.

Obviously the price of dope is way down in your end of town -- you couldn't hallucinate that stuff without chemical assistance, you know?

Prices do not rise. Inflation is unhealthily LOW, not high. Unemployment is too high, but less than a third what it was in 1936, and less than half what it was in the post-WWII recovery. Either you don't know history, or you don't read the newspapers -- or you're lying for effect.

Our country is facing a fiscal cliff of disastrous proportions January 1, with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts,

A GOP-engineered fiscal cliff. They created it. Make sure you understand that they plan to drive the U.S. over that cliff -- and that only Obama's re-election stands in their way.

. . . coupled with massive tax increases on businesses by Obamacare,

You're hallucinating again. Health care is quite affordable under the Affordable Care Act, and most private employers already supply insurance. So they pay no tax. Those who do pay the tax get a bargain, and we get reduced health care costs. Win, win, win.

. . . and mandatory spending cuts amounting to 10% of the federal budget! These cuts will cause tens of thousands of layoffs (that have already begun) in the defense industry alone.

Yes, we need to vote Obama, and get rid of a lot of GOP nuts in the Congress. If we are to avoid that fiscal cliff, that is.

[more, next post]

Ed Darrell said...

[Continued from last post]

Changing this disaster and its consequences, can only be accomplished with a bi-partisan will to compromise and make difficult decisions that will be very hard for members of both parties to stomach.

Democrats are ready. Obama proposed solutions, so did Reid. House Teabagger GOP members refused to compromise, insisting we should shovel federal aid to the rich people first.

Vote the GOP out, things will be a lot brighter.

However, if they don't, the consequences will be much more disastrous.

You're right. The GOP would drive us to disaster -- again, just as they did in 2008 -- if we don't stop them.

Vote Obama. Vote Democrat in your House races. Vote Democrat in your Senate race, if you have one. Help avoid disaster.

magistre said...

That's right, Ed. The Republicans got us into this hole and their solution? More hole!

The framing of the post for this cartoon is either historically ignorant or willfully misleading. Remember, 1948 is the beginning of the Cold War against the Communism of the USSR, and the Red Scare here at home. This is anti-communist propaganda that pretends toward ideological neutrality. Capitalism is an "ism" too, after all. To try to apply this toward modern political debate is misinformed and radical in the worst possible possible way.

Red XIV said...

"Clinton's pushing the mortgage companies to give loans that they knew people couldn't pay back."

That never happened.

"Bush worked hard to keep taxes down so work would go on even after the panic of 911."

His huge tax cut was passed before 9/11. So you damn well can't say the tax cut was a response to 9/11. And besides, every other major war in American history has resulted in a tax increase, to pay for the added expense of war.

Greg said...

IF one thinks ALL ISM is bad, consider Catholicism, Libertarianism, Corporatism, Capitalism.
The first logical flaw is using 'All'. Absolute terms like all, never, always, etc. rarely are true. Who was peddling this anti-ism propaganda? I'm guessing it was anti-communism. That doesn't make it bad nor communism. What it does is uses the same tactics of scare and division that it rails against. Use critical thought. Be reasonable. Speak only what you know is fact or state that it is your supposition or belief. Don't fall for "the party line"; listen and formulate your own opinion. Then listen some more and validate your opinion or re-think it.

johnpfmcguire said...

An amazing video. Personally, while I see the genius of its exponents (like Jefferson), I'm very much over classical liberalism and mainline libertarianism. (I probably would never have considered it had I known it was so flagrantly capitalist.) I don't know that capitalism--also an "ism"--is as sustainably prosperous as we're led to think. I love how the film praises our schools, yet anyone with a serious vocabulary can see through the double-talk of the film's "John Q. Public." I get the impression that both sides--right and left--seek to brainwash.

I've developed a physiology of partisan thinking. If, as in classical Christian monasticism, it behooves the whole brain to descend into the heart/nous--in it finding oneness even in its twoness--then what happens when the heart is ignored is that we pursue oneness by denying the existence of one or the other hemisphere of the brain. This leads to partisan, cult, circular reasoning. I believe this is the issue of the modern West. I believe most if not all political documentaries I've seen in my entire life make no bid for transcending this issue. They may pretend to be beyond the right-left paradigm, but ultimately they're criticizing the right for not being right enough or the left for not being left enough, in other words they are even further polarizing because polemics is where the money and power is (!) They lie early and lie often and are part of the problem, keeping men busy with self-aggrandizing and self-defeating palaver.

Humility is integral to all meaningful notions of freedom.

@ Robert J. Sodaro, Christopher and others...just a point...all 13 of the original colonies's constitutions included the 10 commandments, and the founding father's stated purpose of founding the United States was to promote the Christian faith. As things developed, to avoid the Church of England/Roman Catholic type controversy, and realizing that one's faith must be developed from whatever convictions one might or might not have, we became the first nation to allow freedom to worship as one felt led. That allowed others to have different beliefs and still be American citizens. As a native American, I have a somewhat different perspective as some, such as the Spanish forced their religion upon us, and it took a long time for the walk to match the talk, but by the large, one can worship as one pleases. Sadly I see very few genuine worshipers of any kind today. The islamics give their lives to try and kill us, and many won't even get out of bed to worship as they claim to believe. We stand for nothing, and we fall for anything, as Thomas Jefferson said. God help us.

Ed Darrell said...

Wounded Eagle, whoever you are, I hope you can take a history course not taught in Sunday school by a charlatan, someday.

You wrote:

None of the charters or constitutions of the original 13 colonies included the Ten Commandments.

. . . and the founding father's stated purpose of founding the United States was to promote the Christian faith.

That is stated nowhere. Thomas Jefferson described what happened at the passage of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom:

" The bill for establishing religious freedom, the principles of which had, to a certain degree, been enacted before, I had drawn in all the latitude of reason and right. It still met with opposition; but, with some mutilations in the preamble, it was finally passed; and a singular proposition proved that its protection of opinion was meant to be universal. Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed, by inserting the word “Jesus Christ,” so that it should read, “a departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;” the insertion was rejected by a great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and the Mahometan, the Hindoo, and the Infidel of every denomination.

(See Life and Selected Writings of Thomas Jefferson, Modern Library 1993 edition, pp. 45 and 46.)

The cartoon was far-fetched in 1948, more far-fetched in 1776, and even more far-fetched today.

Many of the comments miss the point. A Christian nation is meant to be ANY belief in a supreme being. We as a nation have gravitated from this concept. And of course every administration MUST accept the dealings of its predecessor, BUT - - - as I recall, the present occupant said he had a plan. He requested, campaigned for, and won. Then, after taking the reins, he cried foul! For the next 18-months his plan never matured and all around him blamed the previous leader. All that tells me is that he was over his head. Finger pointing does nothing to eradicate the problem. Never has. Never will. Makes no difference at this juncture who did what, when. Partisanship MUST cease. Roll up your sleeves and do the jobs you were elected for. If these positions were in the private sector, most all would be eliminated for malfeasance, negligence, dereliction of duty, mismanagement, etc., etc., etc. This cartoon definitely spells out the problem. Time now to act upon it as a unit not as an individual.

The term gradualism comes to mind, Americans are being slowly broken down to accept socialism at the hands of our current leader(s) who hate this country and what it stands for. Anyone who disagrees with their new way of thinking is labeled either ignorant or old fashioned, after all China is a super power...shouldn't we follow their lead too? That is how THEY think. If ever there was a time for anarchy, it is now. The government is broke people.

Well said infinitybbc! Bravo! It is interesting reading comments that are not personally attacking and sight abstractions rather than individual facts for they rarely get attention. They seem to just bleed into oblivion. It’s difficult to engage any further… so tired of trying to find common ground and consensus only to be ignored or disenfranchised. This has been my greatest lesson in regard to the state of the American electorate, or maybe those with the feelings that you expressed here have checked out long ago.

Two important quotes in this cartoon are at 3:45, John Q Public asks "mind if I read it” also reminds of Nancy Pelosi the senate democrat speaker of the house saying "you have to pass it first to find out what's in it". At 8:27 the narrator describes Barack Obummer exactly to a “T’ when he is talking about class warfare and racial divide, differing religions, getting rich and poor people to fight each other, amnesty for illegals and Obama Unaffordable Care wealth transfer is exactly what the POTUS meant when he said he would "fundamentally change the United States of America". Welcome to ISM, communism, socialism, fascism, racism, single payer or what ever you call it, this is where the US is headed in the future especially if Hilarious Clinton gets elected in 2016. We can’t take a chance on another possible eight years of ISM.

Hello Everyone, I am Putri Adiratnaa single mom from Jakarta, I would like to share this great testimony on how I got a loan from Mr, Lorenzo Diego, when we were driven out of our home when I couldn't pay my bills anymore, After being scammed by various companies online and denied a loan from my bank and some other credit union I visited. My children were taken by the foster care, I was all alone in the street. The day I shamefully walked into an old school mate who introduced me to Daisy Maureen. At first I told her that I am not ready to take any risk of requesting a loan online anymore, but she assured me that I will receive my loan from them. On a second thought, due to my homelessness I had to take a trial and applied for the loan, luckily for me I received a loan of $80,000.00 from Mr, Lorenzo Diego. I'm happy I took the risk and applied for the loan. My kids have been given back to me and now I own a home and a business of my own. All thanks and gratitude goes to Mr Lorenzo Diego loan firm  for giving me a meaning to life when I had lost all hope.
