The information you're reading from is the same kind of stuff that comes out of the National Enquirer, as well as from groups which were founded similarly to how Scientology was founded. Someone came up with a fictional story that spread among people who truly believed it until they refuse to believe anything else. Living in a fantasy world, convinced that any talk of "reality" is just a trick.
The Federal Reserve is not "owned" by anyone. The Federal Reserve derives its authority from the U.S. Congress and is an independent entity which is governed by the restrictions set by Congress.
Now, sure... one could see a different view of "ownership". For instance, if I became so wealthy that virtually anything I wanted I could get by virtual of flashing my wealth around... then, someone could say that I "owned" the town I lived in... or possibly the whole state... or perhaps the whole world. One could say that Bill Gates owns the world of computing... or that Google owns everyone's information. However, this is all rhetoric meant for exaggeration for the purpose of talking about ideas. In reality, and in all factual manner, this talk of "ownership" isn't a reality... it's just a perception through small doses of paranoia.
This same thing happens with tax-time... and the use of the word "voluntary" in the U.S. code. When people see this word "voluntary" in the code regarding the IRS, they assume it means "optional"... then they convince their neighbors and anyone who will listen that they don't really need to pay their taxes... they just need to disconnect from the "system".
The reality is, this term "voluntary" only refers to the method by which taxes are collected. When taxes are due, nobody comes knocking on your door, holding you upside down, and shaking coins out of your pockets. Instead, you are provided with forms with which you can calculate your own income, calculate your own tax liability, then submit your payment. This is what "voluntary" means in this context. It never means "optional".
Again, it's great fun to talk about things like how evil the government must be... or that there are organizations around the world controlling us all... or that the government is hiding the UFO that crashed in Roswell from the public... or that taxes are optional... or that the Federal Reserve is owned by someone... or that there are satanic symbols on U.S. currency that are dooming us all to hell... etc, etc, etc... All of this makes great movies and books and I love those movies and books and I also love creativity and thinking about such things, because it's entertaining.

I also read an article that said the aliens are planning on taking over Earth next week. I know it to be a fact because I heard about it in the news and then I saw it written on the Internet. It was also in Wikipedia, but was taken down saying "citation needed"... clearly, the aliens are in charge of Wikipedia. Even the name sounds like "wicked"... we should be afraid.
Since it was also mentioned on a news program, it also must be fact. I can understand your confusion, as it is a common misconception. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that this is just a misreading of the law and not just a convenient misinterpretation of the law due to an ulterior motive or general anti-government attitude.
The Reserve Banks issue shares of stock to member banks. However, owning Reserve Bank stock is very different from owning stock in a private company. The Reserve Banks are not operated for profit, and ownership of a certain amount of stock is, by law, a condition of membership in the System. Also, you seem to be mistaken about interest, currency, and the difference between the Treasury and the Federal Reserve.

So, this interest is really just a trivial technicality.

Regardless, the Fed rebates that interest to the Treasury every year, so the debt held by the Fed carries no net interest obligation for the government. Think of it this way. Imagine you decided to keep a piggy bank to hold your money. However, to keep yourself from dipping into the piggy bank too regularly, you made a rule that whenever you take money out of the piggy bank, you will put it back into the bank PLUS INTEREST. Let's say it reaches a point where the piggy bank holds $100. However, something comes up and you need all of that money. So, you take out $100 one day... then, eventually, put $106 back into it. Another day, you take out $100 again... and eventually, you put $106 back into it. It now holds $112. You aren't exactly going broke with that extra $12 in there... and, besides, it's your money anyhow. At the end of the year, you just break open the piggy bank and use all $112 and start over.
The Federal Reserve isn't somehow "profiting" from the government taking out these loans. It's all just a technicality over the way the shuffling of money is managed.
The primary cause of the deficit is simply the fact that the government spends more than it earns. This is why a principle like PAYGO is so important.
As for your question about why our government doesn't just print its own currency and why does it depend on the Federal Reserve for this? That's an excellent question, and the answer lies in something that you seem to (possibly) be for... oversight and making sure our government doesn't become too powerful.
The whole reason the Federal Reserve was designed to be "independent" from the government was to make sure politics didn't play a direct role in our financial stability. (Balancing the government's budget notwithstanding.) The Federal Reserve serves the purpose of keeping inflation in check and interest rates in check. So, it has a number of mechanisms to be able to do this. It is also utilized to introduce new currency into the system, to make sure the bills you and I use are still fresh and usable and protected from being counterfeit, as well as making sure the currency is widely accepted. Since the Federal Reserve is not allowed to "profit", any excess of money is put right back into the Treasury. Nonetheless, the Fed is regularly audited and ultimately Congress has control to change things is the Federal Reserve were not doing its job properly.
In addition to this, no foreigners own any part of the Fed. Each Federal Reserve bank is owned exclusively by the participating commercial banks and S&Ls operating within the Federal Reserve bank's district. Individuals and non-bank firms, be they foreign or domestic, are not permitted by law to own any shares of a Federal Reserve bank. Moreover, monetary policy is controlled by the publically-appointed Board of Governors, not by the Federal Reserve banks.
Since the Federal Reserve rebates its net earnings to the Treasury every year and, as a result, the interest the Treasury pays to the Fed is returned... the money borrowed from the Fed has no net interest obligation for the Treasury. Sure, the government COULD print its own currency independent of the Fed, but there would be no effective safeguards against abuse of this power for political gain.
You call it "regulating the Internet"... I call it "regulating the corporations giving people access to the Internet." I am all for regulating the corporations giving people access to the Internet because they keep proving that they are more interested in profits and power than in a free and open Internet.
When the Internet was originally founded, it was just a bunch of people who trusted each other running cables between their collections of servers. Now, it seems that the phone companies and cable companies have inserted themselves in the last mile to people's homes, giving everyone "Internet access"... but then are working to charge users different amounts of money, depending on the types of websites they visit... or charging website owners additional fees for allowing their users to access the websites. Imagine if your friend in another state with a completely different telephone provider than you decided that if your friend wanted to call YOU, he'd have to pay his phone company EXTRA... unless YOU pay that extra fee, then your friend won't have to pay more. It's almost the equivalent of putting "collect calls" on the Internet. It would mean that only mega giant corporations (like Google) could survive... and any Joe Schmoe hoping to create the next Twitter or Facebook or Google could never possibly compete, because it would be too cost prohibitive.
So, this "regulating the Internet" you talk about is what the PEOPLE have been BEGGING for. To make sure the Comcasts and AT&T's of the world don't decide to block or throttle bit-torrent traffic one day because they feel like it, or start charging users more money for watching videos on YouTube.
As for the Obama/SSN craziness... those first few digits have nothing to do with where the person physically lives (whose SSN it is)... it's all about where the SSN OFFICE is located who issues the number. I got my SSN at birth. My brother got his at age 4. Many people didn't get their SSN until age 20. Laws changes and customs changed. Depending on how Obama (or Obama's parents) requested the assignment of Obama's SSN, it could have any number of different prefixes that could have no correlation to a place he lived or had even ever visited.

About the National Budget: Since the National Budget Act of 1974 the President is on Feb. 1st each year to send a budget proposal to Congress. Budget debate starts and the budget is to be completed by July 1. The only words I've heard so far about the budget is that it will not be done by then; however Congress will present a "list of discretionary spending items" in July. I can hardly wait to see which rat holes our tax noney will be poured into!

I don't know anyone that's trying to get the government to run your life or business. Many of our freedoms did slip away under the Bush administration and many of us would like them all restored.

Its incredible that the video starts of claiming that among others, the freedom to believe in our own creed is one thing that makes this country great. Immediately after that, the video propagandizes against communism, socialism, and I assume fascism. The video contradicts itself in the firs minute. Besides that, it completely misrepresents socialism, communism, agrarian reform and I must say even fascism, though I'm not a fan of the last one. This propaganda identically mirrors the propaganda other totalitarian states used, states like the USSR and Nazi Germany. I would like to add something that would improve this nation- the ability to make up one's own mind about politics without being bombarded with propaganda, as exemplified in this video.
I just finished watching the Cartoon again and I strongly suggest that all of you watch it again. I find it quite prophetic. It predicted the willingness of many citizens to let this nation become a socialist state. And it seems that you progressives and liberals are in favor of that. What does it take to make you realize that you will be giving up you liberty and freedom. I find it impossible be that naive.
Now about our national debt---my source for this is bing.com. When Carter took office the debt was $65billion. When he left it was $85billion and interest rates were 20%. When Reagan left office the debt was $399billion. Interest rates were down to 5% and we had 20years of prosperity. Under Bush I our debt increased markedly, much of that was due to the war in the mideast. Clinton, in between blow jobs did get the debt reduced rather well. However he encouraged sub prime loans be given to people who wanted a bigger home than they could ever pay for---years later the housing bubble burst. The government stepped into help---most of the people who were helped are now in default again. When Bush II took office the debt was $5.727trillion.when he left office the debt was $9.849trillion. Again the war in Iraq was involved. However the last two years of his term he had a Democratic Congress who were responsible for $1.6trillon of that debt. Then came Obama who blames Bush for the recession---but except for China the whole world is in a recession. After 16 months in office our national debt is $12.967trillion. That is .14trillion per month. At that rate at the end of 48 months (his term) another $6.72trillion will have been added to the debt which now is $12.967trillion and growing daily. That is 95% OF OUR GDP---economists say that anything above that is toxic. Will America be the next Greece----I hope not. But the euro is falling and one or more socialist European countries likely will be. Most of them have a debt well over 100% of their GDP e.g. Ireland's debt is over 1,000% of its GDP. I think that maybe you are taking some things too literally. Like, if someone says "You do that all the time"... they don't literally mean "you do that every second of every minute of every hour of every day of..." and so on... because that wouldn't leave you a whole lot of room to do anything else, like eat, sleep, etc... What the person is really trying to convey is, "you do that quite a lot".
So when it comes down to the idea that the United States was founded on Christian beliefs... they're generally not trying to say that, without Christianity, there's be no United States... or that, somehow, Christianity is declared by the United States as the de facto religion of the Unites States... because the Constitution specifically prohibits the sponsorship of a specific religion or to restrict the freedom of practicing other religions.
I think what is really being conveyed by many when they talk about the founding of the United States and Christianity is these simple facts:
1) The majority of early Americans were religious (i.e., were not Atheists)
2) The majority of early religious Americans were Christians.
3) Many principles of American law mirror principles from Christianity. (Of course, the same could be said of other religions... or of other governments.)
This is not to say, for instance, that without Christianity, these principles couldn't have existed... just that, when compared, there are more matches than not.
Of course, religion and government SHOULD be kept separate, which is what makes the United States so great. Christianity even points to the fact that government and religion shouldn't necessarily mix, which is one of those examples of a correlation (even if there isn't causality.)
So, someone who is a Christian could easily see the principles of early American ideals... see how these match principles of Christianity... see that a majority of people are Christian... and therefore say that America was founded on Christian principles. They wouldn't necessarily be wrong, they'd just need to clarify (to someone who takes this statement too literally) that this isn't meant to infer causality.
For instance, if I said that I and Kevin Smith shared the same first name, you could easily say, "That's impossible... Kevin was born before you and your parents never knew his parents, nor was he famous at the time you were born." That would be incorrectly assuming that by saying we shared the same first name, that there was causality and not simply that both or our names, through coincidence, are similar.
So, yes. The quote you give was by the early founders who wanted to make clear that the government does not favor one religion over another. However, it will always hold true that the majority of early Americans were Christians and the majority of today's Americans are Christians as well. So, Christianity definitely plays a big role in America, as it is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people... a majority of those who are Christians and vote and decide accordingly.

Some people apologize for voting Bush into office; don't. Yes, this cartoon certainly exposed a lot of isms. Not a black face during the entire 9 minutes--racism. Not a woman worker or decisionmaker; just the two who were ogled and whistled at--sexism. And the biggest exposed evil of them all? Well, capitalism, of course. After all, in the name of capitalism, state governments have banned union strikes. And state governments have seized private property from owners who didn't want to sell. And state governments have aided large corporations in taking over large chunks of productive farmland. Most of this has happened in states where Republicanism and Conservatism rule. So, maybe there's a link between these isms and capitalism. And what has unfettered capitalism done lately? Oh, just eliminated all homeowner equity in about one-third of American homes . . . caused trillions of dollars of 401K and IRA funds to disappear . . . created the largest concentration of wealth in the fewest people in the history of the world. To:Joemama: America was established by our founding fathers as a REPUBLIC. The first bit of socialism I think was FDR's Social Security. And what that is today very far from what he said it would be. The amount of income you pay on has increased several times. Also the % you pay has increased several times. FDR said what you get from SS would not be taxed as income---the democrats took care of that a few years ago. Also Congress has raided the fund a few times and now illegal aliens are given money out of the fund without ever paying into it. I agree that some socialism has sneaked into our Republic, and if Obama has his way much more socialism will become our future. That does not elate me.

PEOPLE........ We live in America a Great country. We all need to STOP. with what religion is right or lack of is wrong. This should be between one person and god. or lack there of. In the end, does all this matter? When all is said and done and you are laying 6 feet under. Where you are then is what you have choosen. and always remember the bible. Do not judged least you be judged. Do any of us really want harm to the other? I would hope not. So why bring up religion in this? After seeing the video and reading many comments from over the years, I am more discouraged than ever. Many of the comments make me feel hopeless that too few people can even comprehend the meaning of the video let alone make sense out of our situation. We are in deep trouble brought about by the ISMs and the snake oil and the people who have gone for it. Republican or Democrat, for or against, young or old makes no difference. The facts will out in the end. Our very lives are at stake. I will keep searching for hope and change but not the hope and change that got us to this point or that which a false God now preaches.

As has been pointed out to you several times now Greece is not a socialist state and neither are European countries.

Sorry... I had been hearing about this... but the way you worded things sounded like there was something new in the news recently, which is why I was confused, because I couldn't find a link.
So, let's see... first it would need to be signed... then it would need a 2/3 vote in the Senate to ratify it... if that happened, it would only apply to trade and could not be forced domestically thanks to the 1957 Supreme Court decision in Reid v. Covert. In that case, the majority ruled, among other things, that if a provision of a U.S.-ratified treaty were to run counter to the U.S. Constitution, it could not be enforced. So, our 2nd Amendment rights would still be protected.
However, over a really long term, it is feasible that foreign policies on guns could be cited in different cases, creating precedence and therefore influencing domestic gun laws a long time down the road. This is something which should certainly be battled. However, the signing of one trade-specific treaty is not suddenly going to lead to the elimination of the 2nd Amendment.

Western Journal sent ou an email today that was forwarded to me by a friend. It shows an Egyptan Foreign Minister with Obama. The F.M. says that Obama admitted that he is a Muslim. I guess this explains why he CANCLED Prayer Day this year then was photographed later praying with other Muslims in a Mosque. After he rams Cap and Trade down out throats, then Amnesty and citizenship is rammed also, will he try to convert America to Shariah law? I would not put it past him. Great message, but does anyone really believe that this was a 1948cartoon? Chances are, most of the people posting on this forum *do* vote... and *have* been taking action. Then, they take a few minutes out of each day to talk to their fellow Americans on this forum, giving their views... hoping to change some minds... and hoping to learn from others. This is what free speech is all about.
So, before you start telling everyone to stop exercising their right to free speech ("unintelligent arguing" and "bickering" as you put it), take a look at what you posted. You can try to excuse yourself for being young, but at least you're smart enough to recognize that you could never get your point across without typing what you typed... hopefully you will see, then, that the same logic applied to everyone else who has come here to exercise their freedom of speech, too.

To magistre: Glen Beck had a very interesting program recently. I had hever realized how strong the socialists (Nazi and comunists)were in America in the late 1940's. Your thought about submitting to our Government is sound and it is biblical. We should and must obey the Government, but a time comes when we have to stand up and say no more. Our Government is by "We the People" and when the Government gets out of line we have a right and a duty to tell the Government Stop! We were told by the British back in the mid to late 1770s to fall in line. We said no and ran them out. Was that wrong? No! We formed a new and better Government because we resisted the old Government.

For instance, if I became so wealthy that virtually anything I wanted I could get by virtual of flashing my wealth around... then, someone could say that I "owned" the town I lived in... or possibly the whole state... or perhaps the whole world. One could say that Bill Gates owns the world of computing... or that Google owns everyone's information. However, this is all rhetoric meant for exaggeration for the purpose of talking about ideas. In reality, and in all factual manner, this talk of "ownership" isn't a reality... it's just a perception through small doses of paranoia.
This same thing happens with tax-time... and the use of the word "voluntary" in the U.S. code. When people see this word "voluntary" in the code regarding the IRS, they assume it means "optional"... then they convince their neighbors and anyone who will listen that they don't really need to pay their taxes... they just need to disconnect from the "system".
The reality is, this term "voluntary" only refers to the method by which taxes are collected. When taxes are due, nobody comes knocking on your door, holding you upside down, and shaking coins out of your pockets. Instead, you are provided with forms with which you can calculate your own income, calculate your own tax liability, then submit your payment. This is what "voluntary" means in this context. It never means "optional".
Again, it's great fun to talk about things like how evil the government must be... or that there are organizations around the world controlling us all... or that the government is hiding the UFO that crashed in Roswell from the public... or that taxes are optional... or that the Federal Reserve is owned by someone... or that there are satanic symbols on U.S. currency that are dooming us all to hell... etc, etc, etc... All of this makes great movies and books and I love those movies and books and I also love creativity and thinking about such things, because it's entertaining.
However, the moment you start taking entertaining concepts and treating them as reality... then disavowing anything else which represents reality... and convincing yourself that anyone who doesn't think exactly like you is the enemy... and everyone who does think exactly like you is oppressed just like you are... you head down the downward spiral of a complete disconnect from reality, which rarely turns out well.

I can understand your confusion, as it is a common misconception. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that this is just a misreading of the law and not just a convenient misinterpretation of the law due to an ulterior motive or general anti-government attitude.
The Reserve Banks issue shares of stock to member banks. However, owning Reserve Bank stock is very different from owning stock in a private company. The Reserve Banks are not operated for profit, and ownership of a certain amount of stock is, by law, a condition of membership in the System. Think of it this way. Imagine you decided to keep a piggy bank to hold your money. However, to keep yourself from dipping into the piggy bank too regularly, you made a rule that whenever you take money out of the piggy bank, you will put it back into the bank PLUS INTEREST. Let's say it reaches a point where the piggy bank holds $100. However, something comes up and you need all of that money. So, you take out $100 one day... then, eventually, put $106 back into it. Another day, you take out $100 again... and eventually, you put $106 back into it. It now holds $112. You aren't exactly going broke with that extra $12 in there... and, besides, it's your money anyhow. At the end of the year, you just break open the piggy bank and use all $112 and start over.
The Federal Reserve isn't somehow "profiting" from the government taking out these loans. It's all just a technicality over the way the shuffling of money is managed.
The primary cause of the deficit is simply the fact that the government spends more than it earns. This is why a principle like PAYGO is so important.
As for your question about why our government doesn't just print its own currency and why does it depend on the Federal Reserve for this? That's an excellent question, and the answer lies in something that you seem to (possibly) be for... oversight and making sure our government doesn't become too powerful.
The whole reason the Federal Reserve was designed to be "independent" from the government was to make sure politics didn't play a direct role in our financial stability. (Balancing the government's budget notwithstanding.) The Federal Reserve serves the purpose of keeping inflation in check and interest rates in check. So, it has a number of mechanisms to be able to do this. It is also utilized to introduce new currency into the system, to make sure the bills you and I use are still fresh and usable and protected from being counterfeit, as well as making sure the currency is widely accepted. Since the Federal Reserve is not allowed to "profit", any excess of money is put right back into the Treasury. Nonetheless, the Fed is regularly audited and ultimately Congress has control to change things is the Federal Reserve were not doing its job properly.
In addition to this, no foreigners own any part of the Fed. Each Federal Reserve bank is owned exclusively by the participating commercial banks and S&Ls operating within the Federal Reserve bank's district. Individuals and non-bank firms, be they foreign or domestic, are not permitted by law to own any shares of a Federal Reserve bank. Moreover, monetary policy is controlled by the publically-appointed Board of Governors, not by the Federal Reserve banks.
Since the Federal Reserve rebates its net earnings to the Treasury every year and, as a result, the interest the Treasury pays to the Fed is returned... the money borrowed from the Fed has no net interest obligation for the Treasury. Sure, the government COULD print its own currency independent of the Fed, but there would be no effective safeguards against abuse of this power for political gain.

I am all for regulating the corporations giving people access to the Internet because they keep proving that they are more interested in profits and power than in a free and open Internet.
When the Internet was originally founded, it was just a bunch of people who trusted each other running cables between their collections of servers. Now, it seems that the phone companies and cable companies have inserted themselves in the last mile to people's homes, giving everyone "Internet access"... but then are working to charge users different amounts of money, depending on the types of websites they visit... or charging website owners additional fees for allowing their users to access the websites. Imagine if your friend in another state with a completely different telephone provider than you decided that if your friend wanted to call YOU, he'd have to pay his phone company EXTRA... unless YOU pay that extra fee, then your friend won't have to pay more. It's almost the equivalent of putting "collect calls" on the Internet. It would mean that only mega giant corporations (like Google) could survive... and any Joe Schmoe hoping to create the next Twitter or Facebook or Google could never possibly compete, because it would be too cost prohibitive.
So, this "regulating the Internet" you talk about is what the PEOPLE have been BEGGING for. To make sure the Comcasts and AT&T's of the world don't decide to block or throttle bit-torrent traffic one day because they feel like it, or start charging users more money for watching videos on YouTube.
As for the Obama/SSN craziness... those first few digits have nothing to do with where the person physically lives (whose SSN it is)... it's all about where the SSN OFFICE is located who issues the number. I got my SSN at birth. My brother got his at age 4. Many people didn't get their SSN until age 20. Laws changes and customs changed. Depending on how Obama (or Obama's parents) requested the assignment of Obama's SSN, it could have any number of different prefixes that could have no correlation to a place he lived or had even ever visited.

About the National Budget:
Since the National Budget Act of 1974 the President is on Feb. 1st each year to send a budget proposal to Congress. Budget debate starts and the budget is to be completed by July 1.

Immediately after that, the video propagandizes against communism, socialism, and I assume fascism. The video contradicts itself in the firs minute. I think that maybe you are taking some things too literally. Like, if someone says "You do that all the time"... they don't literally mean "you do that every second of every minute of every hour of every day of..." and so on... because that wouldn't leave you a whole lot of room to do anything else, like eat, sleep, etc... What the person is really trying to convey is, "you do that quite a lot".
So when it comes down to the idea that the United States was founded on Christian beliefs... they're generally not trying to say that, without Christianity, there's be no United States... or that, somehow, Christianity is declared by the United States as the de facto religion of the Unites States... because the Constitution specifically prohibits the sponsorship of a specific religion or to restrict the freedom of practicing other religions.
I think what is really being conveyed by many when they talk about the founding of the United States and Christianity is these simple facts:
1) The majority of early Americans were religious (i.e., were not Atheists)
2) The majority of early religious Americans were Christians.
3) Many principles of American law mirror principles from Christianity. (Of course, the same could be said of other religions... or of other governments.)
This is not to say, for instance, that without Christianity, these principles couldn't have existed... just that, when compared, there are more matches than not.
Of course, religion and government SHOULD be kept separate, which is what makes the United States so great. Christianity even points to the fact that government and religion shouldn't necessarily mix, which is one of those examples of a correlation (even if there isn't causality.)
So, someone who is a Christian could easily see the principles of early American ideals... see how these match principles of Christianity... see that a majority of people are Christian... and therefore say that America was founded on Christian principles. They wouldn't necessarily be wrong, they'd just need to clarify (to someone who takes this statement too literally) that this isn't meant to infer causality.
For instance, if I said that I and Kevin Smith shared the same first name, you could easily say, "That's impossible... Kevin was born before you and your parents never knew his parents, nor was he famous at the time you were born." That would be incorrectly assuming that by saying we shared the same first name, that there was causality and not simply that both or our names, through coincidence, are similar.
So, yes. The quote you give was by the early founders who wanted to make clear that the government does not favor one religion over another. However, it will always hold true that the majority of early Americans were Christians and the majority of today's Americans are Christians as well. So, Christianity definitely plays a big role in America, as it is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people... a majority of those who are Christians and vote and decide accordingly.
